A year ago, Don Dinero, author and TWI Master Trainer, came to Edmonton and gave us the Job Instruction Training Seminar.  In this talk I will share what we learned trying to implement TWI Job Instruction Training and Program Development in our service group over the last year.

Training within Industry (TWI) was developed during World War II.  It was proven effective in thousands of industries and on millions of people.  After the war it was exported to Japan and is credited as one of the foundations of TPS and Lean.  TWI has many interesting concepts such:
- “Learn by doing”,
- “If the worker hasn’t learned, the instructor hasn’t taught”
- Top Management support
- The importance of coaching
- Focus on the needs of the Supervisor
- 4 Step Scientific Method
 - Focus on production

For more information you can search the web.

All the original manuals can be downloaded for free from Google books:
